COVID-19, Ebola and Regional Instability

As part of our ongoing efforts to manage the effects that global travel disruptions—such as pandemics (COVID-19, Ebola), political instability, and regional security threats—have on our business and the tourism industry at large, Mystic Adventures has put measures in place to ensure the security of trips that may be directly affected by international travel restrictions, government lockdowns, or safety advisories.

Mystic Adventures, its owners, agents, and employees understand that all bookings made prior to unforeseen travel disruptions may need to be postponed due to travel restrictions, government lockdowns, or safety concerns. Should the new booking dates not be convenient, deposit values can be used on any other Mystic Adventures safaris, subject to the terms and conditions of the operators and suppliers involved in the said tour (safari).

As of January 1, 2022, unless restricted by government regulations, no travel plans will be postponed without official advisories indicating a travel ban or security threat. If you are freely able to travel but choose not to, you will need to seek compensation from your travel insurance for costs associated with the trip (airline tickets, transfers) and the 50% non-refundable deposit. In such cases, our standard cancellation policy (per point 7 of our terms and conditions) will apply.

All guests will be dealt with on an individual basis, and we will continue to offer support during these uncertain travel times.

Conditions and Payment Terms

Return to Normal Deposit Payments

A minimum 40% deposit is required within two weeks of submitting a provisional booking form, except for tours starting more than 18 months from the booking date, where a 35% deposit payment is accepted.

50% Deposit

  • Standard 50% deposit payment to secure a booking within two weeks.
  • Balance payment of 50% due 90 days before departure.

35% Deposit

  • 35% deposit payment to secure bookings for tours departing more than 18 months from the booking date.
  • 30% middle payment, determined by the period between booking and safari start date.
  • 35% final payment due 60 days before departure.

Postponement and Cancellation Policy (Pandemics, Security Risks, and Travel Restrictions)

If at any stage a particular safari itinerary cannot proceed due to official travel restrictions, ongoing health risks (e.g., COVID-19/Ebola outbreaks), or security threats (e.g., instability in national parks or border regions), and Mystic Adventures decides to postpone the itinerary, the associated deposit payment will be automatically shifted forward to a future itinerary, securing your space.

If the new itinerary date is not suitable, Mystic Adventures will allow the deposit value to be applied to any other Mystic Adventures safari departure of your choice (subject to specific itinerary terms and conditions).

Any decision taken by a guest to cancel or postpone an itinerary that has not been explicitly postponed or canceled by Mystic Adventures—whether due to personal concerns regarding health, safety, or travel advisories—will result in the loss of the minimum deposit as a standard cancellation fee. However, we will work closely with operators and guests to minimize financial losses on a case-by-case basis.

Travel Insurance

While we recognize that many travel insurance policies have limitations regarding pandemics, security risks, and government-imposed travel bans, most postponed trips remain covered under the traveler’s initial policy, with adjustments. Please notify us if you need a letter for your travel insurance provider stating that your trip has been postponed and funds transferred to a new booking.

Adequate travel insurance covering cancellations, medical emergencies, repatriation, and security evacuations is essential to fully protect your travel investment. Many reputable travel insurance providers now offer quarantine and medical coverage for COVID-19, as well as policies covering security evacuations.
